Development of Flexible Plasticized Ion Conducting Polymer Blend Electrolytes Based on Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA): Chitosan (CS) with High Ion Transport Parameters Close to Gel Based Electrolytes

Abstract: In the current study, flexible films of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA): chitosan (CS) solid polymer blend electrolytes (PBEs) with high ion transport property close enough to gel based electrolytes were prepared with the aid of casting methodology. Glycerol (GL) as a plasticizer and sodium bromide (NaBr) as an ionic source provider are added to PBEs. The flexible films have been examined for their structural and electrical properties. The GL content changed the brittle and solid behavior of the films to a soft manner… Show more

“…The FTIR spectra of pure IL, pure NaI, and PVA/30wt%NaI/6wt%IL PE film are done using a Perkin‐Elmer (USA) Spectrophotometer (model 833) shown in Figure 3. In pure PVA, 15 the O‐H stretching vibration occurred at 3259.34 cm −1 , while peak at 1653.51 cm −1 in pure PVA was caused by C=C stretching. The notable peak at C‐H bending vibration occurred around 834.16 cm −1 .…”

“…In all cases, characteristic peaks corresponding to the O–H, C=O, and C–O stretching vibrations and C–C stretching vibration were observed at 3290, 1730, 1086, and 842 cm −1 , respectively [ 53 , 54 , 55 , 56 ]. Additionally, minor peaks with low intensities were detected for C–H stretching, C–H bending, and O–H bending at 2932, 1424, and 1325 cm −1 , respectively [ 56 , 57 , 58 ]. As the applied plasma power was increased up to 120 W, the absorbance of hydrophilic groups such as O–H, C=O, and C–O increased whereas that of the C–C group decreased [ 59 , 60 ].…”

“…The plot shows an incomplete half semicircle indicating the relaxation process is non‐Debye type. If the Argand diagram show complete semi‐circular behavior, then the relaxation is conductivity relaxation, otherwise it is due to viscoelastic (polymer‐molecular) relaxation 45 . With the increase in the salt concentration, the intersection with the real axis does not shift for H0–H2.…”
