Abstract:A Micro-Mesh Micro-Pixel Chamber (M 3 -PIC) was developed for particle imaging and/or a TPC readout. M 3 -PIC is expected to improve the gaseous gain and the ion backflow more than existing Micro-Pattern Gaseous Detectors (MPGDs). A prototype (3 cm × 3 cm) was manufactured and tested. Stable operation for a month was achieved with a gas gain of 2×10 4 using an Ar: ethane = 50:50 gas mixture. The operation properties were also tested using CF 4 based gases.
“…Also, it can be extended to a large area by arranging multiple µ-PIC substrates with a very small dead area. Other basic properties of µ-PIC have been reported [14,15]. Fig.…”

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
