Development of Micro-Mesh Micro-Pixel Chamber

Abstract: A Micro-Mesh Micro-Pixel Chamber (M 3 -PIC) was developed for particle imaging and/or a TPC readout. M 3 -PIC is expected to improve the gaseous gain and the ion backflow more than existing Micro-Pattern Gaseous Detectors (MPGDs). A prototype (3 cm × 3 cm) was manufactured and tested. Stable operation for a month was achieved with a gas gain of 2×10 4 using an Ar: ethane = 50:50 gas mixture. The operation properties were also tested using CF 4 based gases.
