Development of microclimate control system in cattle barns for cattle housing in the Perm region

Abstract: The economic efficiency of intensive livestock farming on an industrial basis depends on the rational housing of animals, which is largely determined by the presence of an optimal microclimate in the premises. Whatever breed and pedigree qualities the animals may have, without creating the necessary microclimate conditions they are unable to maintain their health and show their potential productive capabilities due to heredity. Between 2018 and 2020, 11 farms in Perm Region were surveyed for respiratory and di… Show more

“…Precision Livestock Farming describes the combined use of sensor technology, and related algorithms, interfaces, and applications in animal husbandry [96]. Different PLF systems, some of which are available on the market, have been developed for monitoring either outdoor and barn microclimate data [93,94,97] or, by using wearable devices and sensors attached to the animals, for monitoring some animal-related parameters. Other useful data such as GPS location of animals on pastures for virtual fencing technology [98] or their position indoors, reproductive or milk production-related parameters, smart feeding, rumination, and nutrition parameters as well as health status parameters [94, 99, 100] may also be monitored.…”

“…Using the CX-Designer program, a farm operator screen was developed, which reflects the current states of physical and chemical processes and equipment operation modes [9][10][11]. If the maximum permissible parameters are exceeded, an alert is issued if the automated control system is unable to provide the required mode of operation.…”
