Development of multifunctional nanocomposites for controlled drug delivery and hyperthermia

Abstract: Magnetic nano/micro-particles based on clinoptilolite-type of natural zeolite (CZ) were fabricated and were expected to act as carriers for controlled drug delivery/release, imaging and local heating in biological systems. Adsorption of rhodamine B, sulfonated aluminum phthalocyanine and hypericin by magnetic CZ nano/micro-particles was investigated, as was the release of hypericin. Using an alternating magnetic field, local temperature increase by 10 °C in animal tissue with injected magnetic CZ particles was… Show more

“…Studies on the biological function of natural nanocomposites with metallic complexes are one important candidate in the new avenues for drug development for various disease ailments [36,37]. In this work, we have formulated, characterized, and tested the antimicrobial and anticancer functions of CuO/TiO 2 -chitosan-farnesol nanocomposites.…”

“…In general, the conjugates of MNPs with various cytostatics show decreased overall toxicity, and the concentration of cytostatic agents is required to achieve a therapeutic effect [72][73][74][75][76][77]. The ability of MNPs to accumulate in tumors has also been confirmed by MRI [59,74,[78][79][80].…”

“…The morphology and size of both the particles themselves and their pores can be controlled via the choice of a synthetic method [133,134]. MSP-based delivery systems have shown high drug-loading capacity, successfully controlled release, and increased antitumor activity [79,[135][136][137].…”
