Development of Multiplex PCR Coupled DNA Chip Technology for Assessment of Endogenous and Exogenous Allergens in GM Soybean

Abstract: Allergenicity assessment of transgenic plants and foods is important for food safety, labeling regulations, and health protection. The aim of this study was to develop an effective multi-allergen diagnostic approach for transgenic soybean assessment. For this purpose, multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) coupled with DNA chip technology was employed. The study was focused on the herbicide-resistant Roundup Ready soya (RRS) using a set of certified reference materials consisting of 0, 0.1%, 0.5%, and 10% R… Show more

“…The LOD and LOQ for mat k target was both 1 mg kg −1 . By integrating DNA microarrays, a multiplex PCR method can be devised to simultaneously identify three endogenous allergens in GM soybean: Gly m Bd 28K, Gly m Bd 30K, and lectin along with the exogenous 5-enolppyruvyl shikimate-phosphate synthase (Kutateladze et al, 2021). For mycotoxins, the effectiveness of three pre-enrichment broths in detecting Salmonella in meat analog burgers using PCR was compared in a study by Sampson et al (2023).…”

“…In this study, we incorporated GMOspecific loci covering 40,715 markers that will be helpful in rice b r e e d i n g f o r p r e l i m i n a r y s c r e e n i n g o f G M O s contaminations. Previously such microarray-based GMO detection has been applied at a small scale in detection of GM soya, rice and maize lines (Kim et al, 2010;Turkec et al, 2016;Chen et al, 2021;Kutateladze et al, 2021).…”
