Development of new formulation and its evaluation by capillary electrophoresis of tablets containing tramadol hydrochloride and paracetamol

Abstract: Tablet formulation proved to be a significant factor in quality of tramadol hydrochloride/paracetamol tablets, as considerable differences between tablets containing different excipients were found; while capillary electrophoresis can be considered a useful alternative for the quantitative determination of tramadol hydrochloride/paracetamol combinations.

“…Electrophoretic methods such as capillary electrophoresis (CE) can also be used to quantify TXA. These methods are relatively simple and inexpensive to perform, but they may not be as sensitive or selective as chromatographic methods (Wang, 2020;Ciurba et al, 2013). Immunoassay methods such as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) can be used to quantify TXA in biological samples.…”

“…Currently, in the manufacturing of paracetamol tablets and the quantitation of the final product, HPLC is usually used to measure the API content, presenting disadvantages such as the consumption of the chromatographic column and solvent, complicated preprocessing, and deviations in results obtained by different operators. In addition, electroanalytical [ 21 ], capillary electrophoretic [ 22 , 23 ], and spectrophotometric methods [ 24 ] have also been applied to the determination of paracetamol content [ 25 ].…”

“…Up till now, a number of studies have been performed including high performance liquid chromatography with UV and electrospray ionization mass spectrophotometric detections, gas chromatography with mass spectrophotometric detection , capillary electrophoresis , UV spectrophotometry , and voltammetry for the determination of ACP and TRA in their binary mixtures.…”

“…Up till now, a number of studies have been performed including high performance liquid chromatography with UV [7] and electrospray ionization mass spectrophotometric [8] detections, gas chromatography with mass spectrophotometric detection [7], capillary electrophoresis [9], UV spectrophotometry [10,11], and voltammetry [ 18] for the determination of ACP and TRA in their binary mixtures. Among the instrumental techniques, voltammetry provides not only inexpensive, rapid and simple benefits for chemical analysis, but also presents useful information about the oxidation/reduction (redox) mechanism of the corresponding electroactive species.…”
