Development of Separation Technologies for Environmental Remediation

Abstract: This paper introduces some studies on the development of separation technologies for environmental remediation that have been performed in my laboratory over the past 20 years. The studies are related mainly to the development of easily collectable adsorbents and eco-friendly remediation technologies to remove pollutants from contaminated environments. First, the investigation of pollution in the Songhua River in China is described because it was that research that gave me the opportunity to consider the neces… Show more

“…Nowadays, separation is still an important and indispensable technology that affects nearly all the aspects of our modern industry, from chemicals purification, [10][11][12][13][14] to resource recovery, [15][16][17][18][19] pharmaceutical manufacture, [20][21][22][23][24] and pollution remedy. [25][26][27][28][29] For example, extraction of uranium from seawater is a promising alternative to supply fuel for nuclear power plants. [30][31][32] and easy processability, which show superiorities in versatile synthesis and rational structure design to process into different types of separation materials (e.g., aerogels, membranes, and fibers) for diverse applications.…”
