The internet of things (IoT) aims to extend the internet to real-world objects, connecting smart and sensing devices into a global network infrastructure by connecting physical and virtual objects. The IoT has the potential to increase the quality of life of inhabitants and users of intelligent ambient assisted living (AAL) environments. The paper overviews and discusses the IoT technologies and their foreseen impacts and challenges for the AAL domain. The results of this review are summarized as the IoT based gerontechnology acceptance model for the assisted living domain. The model focuses on the acceptance of new technologies by older people and underscores the need for the adoption of the IoT for the AAL domain.

Because of the exponential growth of Internet of Things (IoT), several services are being developed. These services can be accessed through smart gadgets by the user at any place, every time and anywhere. This makes security and privacy central to IoT environments. In this paper, we propose a lightweight, robust, and multi-factor remote user authentication and key agreement scheme for IoT environments. Using this protocol, any authorized user can access and gather real-time sensor data from the IoT nodes. Before gaining access to any IoT node, the user must first get authenticated by the gateway node as well as the IoT node. The proposed protocol is based on XOR and hash operations, and includes: (i) a 3-factor authentication (ie, password, biometrics, and smart device); (ii) mutual authentication; (iii) shared session key; and (iv) key freshness. It satisfies desirable security attributes and maintains acceptable efficiency in terms of the computational overheads for resource constrained IoT environment. Further, the informal and formal security analysis using AVISPA proves security strength of the protocol and its robustness against all possible security threats. Simulation results also prove that the scheme is secure against attacks.

A shopping mall or a super market is a place where thousands of customers visit every day to purchase many products.Today purchasing various products in mallsor supermarkets require a trolley.Product procurement represents a complex process. Each time customer has to pull the trolley for getting the items and placing them in the trolley and also he has to take care of expense computation. After shopping the customer has to wait in a long queue for product scanning and bill payment. To overcome this we are developing a smart way for shopping. Each and every product contains RFID tag. The smart trolley will consists of a RFID reader, transmitter. When thecustomerscans and places any product in the trolley, cost and the name of the product will be displayed.The sum total cost of all the products will be added to the final bill, which will be stored in the micro controller memory. It will wirelessly transfer the product information of the items placed in the trolley using a transmitter to the main computer. So, to avoid waiting in billing queue while constantly thinking about the budget.
