Abstract:We present a development of a novel photon detector based on superconducting tunnel junction (STJ) and silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) technology for application to an experiment to search for radiative decays of cosmic background neutrinos using photon energy spectrum in the cosmic infrared background region. The requirement of the detector for the experiment is a capability of photon-by-photon detection in the far-infrared region. In principle, a Nb/Al-STJ is expected to be able to detect a single far-infrared ph… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
