Die wear during hot extrusion of ex-situ and in-situ aluminum composites (Letter to the Editor)

Abstract: The study demonstrates a high-temperature wear of extrusion die during hot pressing of in-situ and ex-situ Al metal matrix composites (MMC). The in-situ Al-10.5vol.%AlN and ex-situ Al-10.5vol.%SiC with high Young's modulus are fabricated by powder metallurgy approach. The composite microstructure and the mechanical properties are characterized.
