Dietary avocado oil prevents the impairment in the complex III and ROS production in kidney mitochondria from diabetic rats by improving the electron flow through cytochrome c1
Abstract:ROS production at mitochondrial complex III (CIII) has been identified as one of the main factors leading to diabetic nephropathy. ROS production at CIII during diabetes occurs due to damage in some of its subunits, being oxidative damage a main contributor for this phenomenon. Thus, the attenuation of the damage in the CIII may serve as an approach to ameliorate diabetic renal dysfunction. Because its antioxidant content, we aimed to investigate whether avocado oil (AO) could decrease both the impairment in C… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
