Difference in the attachment of hepatocytes between a poly(γ-benzyl L-glutamate) (PBLG)/poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) diblock copolymer cast surface and a PBLG/PNIPAAm Langmuir-Blodgett one

Abstract: The effects of temperature on the monolayer behavior of the poly(gamma-benzyl L-glutamate) (PBLG)/poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) diblock copolymer at the air-water interface were examined. Differences in the adhesion and morphology of hepatocytes between Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films and cast surfaces of the PBLG/PNIPAAm diblock copolymer were investigated. The surface pressure (pi)-area (A) curve of the block copolymer had a tendency to expand with the temperature, due to a change in the conformation of… Show more

“…Our results were in good agreement with them. The cause might be that, both of CTS (Ikinci et al, 2002;Cho et al, 2004) and PNIPAAm (Shimojo et al, 2002;Cho et al, 2004) were reported to be biocompatible and could be employed as tissue engineering materials. Therefore, the resultant nanogels made of CTS and PNIPAAM retained their original effects to cells in some way.…”

“…The literature data even scattered considerably, perhaps due to the complexity of the contact angle phenomenon as noted above. However, the sessile contact angle is very comparable to ∼75° of water on the LB surface of the diblock copolymer poly( γ -benzyl l -glutamate)- b -PNIPAM …”
