DIFFERENCES IN 3H‐THYMIDINE UPTAKE BY CHICKEN LYMPHOID TISSUES AFTER INTRAVENOUS OR INTRAPERITONEAL ADMINISTRATION

Abstract: Intraperitoneal injection of tritiated thymidine, as compared to intravenous injection, was shown to cause a local labelling of the organs inside the peritoneal cavity. This labelling was most intensive in organs situated in the part of the cavity where the injection was made. In autoradiographs of ileum from the intraperitoneally labelled animals heavily labelled cells were found in the serous membrane, the muscular layers, and even in the lamina propria close to the surface epithelium.
