“…A group of studies revealed that ginseng rust root (GRR) is a commonly occurring disease that seriously affects the continuous cultivation and economic value of MCG. Based on non-targeted UPLC-Q-TOF-MS metabolomics, the differences between the chemical composition of rusty roots and healthy MCG harvested at 20 were compared, and the results suggested that GRR could affect the ginsenosides of 20-year-old MCG (Guan et al, 2022). In addition, compared with the healthy group, concentrations of Fe and Al were higher in the rusty group, establishing reference data and the basis for further exploration of the mechanisms of GRR-induced metabolic changes in ginseng.…”

“…(Lee et al, 2011; Li et al, 1999; Wang, Sun, Xu, Ma, Li, Shao, Guan, Liu, & Liu, 2019; Zhang et al, 2016). During GRS, the contents of active ingredients such as ginsenosides significantly decreased, seriously reducing ginseng quality and yield (Guan et al, 2022). In the 1990s, the economic loss caused by GRS was as high as millions of dollars, and the incidence rate has remained high in recent years (Zhao et al, 2022).…”

“…It has been used as a medicinal plant to treat diseases for thousands of years (Yang et al 2021b). Ginseng contains a variety of active substances such as ginsenosides, phytosterols, avonoids, polyacetylenes, polysaccharides, fatty acids and has been proven to have signi cant therapeutic effects on a variety of diseases, including cancer, in ammation, nerve disease (Guan et al 2022;Ratan et al 2021). In recent decades, ginseng has been widely used as medicine and as food and health care products in some countries (Lu et al 2021).…”
