Differences of Influence Factors for Pedestrian Running a Red Light

Abstract

A pedestrian running a red light, a universal traffic phenomenon in China which has caused a great impact on urban transport efficiency and safety, is becoming a serious problem. A pedestrian running a red light is a complex process, and there are a variety of factors that influence the pedestrian from sensing of external environment information to make a behavioral decision. In order to analyze the specific impact of various factors, the process of decision making for a pedestrian running a red light were analyzed in detail in this article by looking at personal factors, family factors, and travel factors. We also got large amounts of data by field observations and questionnaires. Using statistical methods to analyze, review, and summarize obtained data, the differences of the factors that affect a pedestrian running a red light decision were educed. Finally suggestions and solutions about pedestrians running red lights are proposed.
