“…Research into novel MIPs and their application for drugs and pollutants determination, in biological and environmental samples have been the base activity of molecular imprint‐based solid‐phase extraction (MISPE) domain 2–7. MISPE has been used to determine drugs in biological fluids,8–12 water,13, 14 apple extracts, and urine 15.…”

“…Since 2000, sample pretreatment methods have undergone considerable development, also due to the use of nano-structured liquids, named supramolecular solvents that combine extraction and clean-up in a single stage [8 , 9] , and due to selective sorbents, such as molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs), which are synthetic tailor-made separation polymers having a predetermined selectivity for a given analyte, or group of structurally related compounds. MIPs are obtained by polymerizing functional and cross-linking monomers around a template molecule, leading to a highly cross-linked three-dimensional network polymer [10 , 11] . The resulting imprinted polymers are highly stable, robust and resistant against physicochemical perturbations such as pH value, solvents and temperature.…”

“…MIPs are tailor-made materials with high selectivity for a target compound which is known as template molecule [17]. Since their discovery in 1972, MIPs have gained considerable interest from scientists and engineers all over the world.…”
