“…Some consider it as peculiar hypersensitivity response to malignant cells or some persistent infection while some consider it as protective phenomenon with good prognosis. [10][11][12] Prognostic significance of granulomas in the setting of malignant disease is not clear though some may consider it as protective response of host. Granuloma does not necessarily mean better prognosis as four patients of GMF who died of disseminated disease have been reported.…”

“…Granuloma does not necessarily mean better prognosis as four patients of GMF who died of disseminated disease have been reported. [4,11] A case with spontaneous regression of GMF in HIV positive patient has also been described. Regression was thought to be probably due to cytotoxic effect of HIV on neoplastic cells.…”

“…The second type consists of GA-like skin processes or sarcoidlike granulomas that are a nonspecific manifestation of the underlying lymphoma. 12 Skin lesions with noninfectious epithelioid granulomatous changes have previously been described in a few patients with ATL. [13][14][15] Some authors have argued that such a granulomatous reaction might be a protective host response against the progression of ATL.…”

“…The first type is associated with specific lymphomatous lesions, a situation reminiscent of some subsets of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, which may show a granulomalous pattern with or without the particular slack skin clinical picture (5); in this setting, neoplastic cells are admixed with histiocytes and the occurrence of a granuloma tnight represent a reactive pattern against tumoural cells. The second type is a non-specific granulomatous reaction without any neoplastic cells, and different histological patterns have been described, such as sarcoidosis-like, granuloma annulare-like and tuberculoid granuloma (6,7). The dominant histological picture seems to be the sarcoidosis-like pattern, more particularly reported in association with Hodgkin's disease in a significant number of cases.…”
