Different trace mineral sources and recommendations in the performance and quality of eggs from Dekalb White layers

Abstract: -This work aimed to evaluate the performance and egg quality of lightweight laying hens supplemented with a high biological value mineral, carbo-amino-phospho-chelates (CAPC), compared with inorganic minerals (sulfates), at different recommended values. A total of 320 Dekalb White hens, between 53 and 77 weeks of age, were distributed in a completely randomized design into two treatments, 10 replicates of 16 birds each. The treatments consisted of a reference diet formulated according to breed manual recommend… Show more

“…In same line, organic minerals such as dietary carbo-aminophospho-chelates in comparison to the sulphate form (inorganic) enhanced HU values (90.2 vs. 84.95) and other albumen indices in laying hens (164). Calcium in laying pigeons promoted albumen transparency (165).…”

“…The other albumen indices were also affected by storage. Extended storage time decreased albumen weight [14,57] and albumen percentage [58]. This decrease in albumen weight was due to a decrease in the thick albumen weight and an increase in yolk weight, suggesting that water diffused from the albumen through the vitelline membrane into the yolk during storage.…”

“…Natural antioxidants in the form of organic trace elements chelated with amino acids and probiotics extend the shelf life of albumen during storage. For example, carbon chelates (CAPC) [58] improved the HU value of eggs stored at 25 • C for 21 d compared to controls, 100 mg/kg zinc-methionine [104] and selenium probiotics [105] improved the HU value in eggs stored for 15 days and 6 days, respectively. In another study, selenized glucose at 10 mg/kg enhanced HU values by 17% compared to controls [54].…”

“…These nutrients are important skeletal development of embryo (Favero et al, 2013;Torres and Korver, 2018), maintaining bone health and development of bone (Leach, 1988;Rucker 1988;Olgun and Aygun, 2016). Organic trace element sources which have higher bioavailability and no performance adverse effects have been used with smaller quantities than inorganic mineral sources (sulphate and oxide) in the poultry diets (Pereira et al, 2018).…”
