“…Therefore, we performed predictive analyses on miR-374a, -335, -20b, -20a, and -10b using bioinformatic tools (www.microrna.org), and found that miR-20a and miR-20b likely regulate target proteins, including vascular endothelial growth factor-A (VEGF-A) and hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1), at the translational level. This regulatory mechanism was proven preliminarily with clinical experiments and subsequently published by Li et al (2012).…”

“…This cluster is widely expressed in healthy tissues and is important for the regulation of the immune and hematopoietic systems and lung development (Lu et al, 2007;Ventura et al, 2008;Xiao et al, 2008). However, it is situated in a region that is commonly amplified and, therefore, is usually over-expressed in many kinds of tumor types, such as lymphomas and cancers of the lung, breast, follicular lymphoma, chronic myeloid leukemia, osteosarcoma, and also cervical cancer (Hayashita et al, 2005;Venturini et al, 2007;Huang et al, 2012;Kang et al, 2012;Li et al, 2012;Wang et al, 2012). Our study showed miR-20a is definitely up-regulated in the impaired tissue with a median of 6.92, up-regulated expression of miR-20a have relationship with LNM, increased tumor sizes, advanced stage, and advanced histological grade of cervical cancer.…”

“…miR-10b is activated by HIF-1/TWIST1 (twist-related protein 1) signaling, and overexpression of miR-10b initiates robust invasion and metastasis in otherwise nonmetastatic breast cancers (Ma et al, 2007;Haque et al, 2011). miR-20a and miR-20b, which are co-expressed with vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-A and HIF-1α, also play important roles in breast cancer metastasis (Li et al, 2012) (Table 1).…”
