Show more

“…However, the content of AIA in grains is low and the amount supplied in the diets is not enough to act as an indicator. Thus, eventually, external sources of AIA (Celite ™, sand and silica) can be added to diets to improve the accuracy of estimates, being also considered as external indicator, as assessed by Salguero Cruz et al (2014), Rocha Junior et al (2015 and Santana et al (2017). Carvalho et al (2013) compared different methods of analysis of acidinsoluble ash with the total collection method to the determination of metabolizable energy of corn to birds.…”

“…The decline in eggshell quality is one of the biggest challenges in feeding old laying hens and causes large economic losses in egg production and processing. As a kind of organic calcium, calcium lactate showed a higher true digestibility coefficient of calcium than limestone, calcium phosphate, bone meal, and egg powder in pigs [23]. Lactic acid and calcium lactate are safe to add to animal feed [21], and the production cost of feed-grade calcium lactate is gradually reduced and widely used.…”

“…The ATTD of Ca and P is calculated by the difference between mineral intake and fecal excretion, while the available minerals for bone formation can be evaluated by other methods, such as bone mineralization (Salguero et al. 2014 ). In the present study, Ca and P contents of the femur, tibia, and rib of TYB pigs were lower compared to Duroc pigs at 80 D. Mineralization in the femur and rib showed a response to the Ca and P contents of pigs at the beginning of the growing-finishing stage.…”
