Abstract: Acute vestibular syndrome (AVS) is characterised by a sudden vertigo, gait instability, nausea and nystagmus. Accurate and rapid triage of patients with AVS to differentiate central (potentially sinister) from peripheral (usually benign) root causes is a challenge faced across emergency medicine settings.
