Show more

“…Among other research directions in the context of PLM, the Systematic Review "Data Management of Process Plants as Complex Systems: Systematic Literature Review and Identification of Challenges and Opportunities" highlights new approaches such as the Asset Administration Shell [6]. None of these concepts, however, assumes an approach that only includes and relates information to available metadata and its source system, leaving the data itself in the nDMS.…”

“…data related to physical components or implemented software, could serve as a reference for digital twins and provide important interface information for data acquisition. They could also be used to optimize plant design or requirements based on real data, but this requires linking instance-specific data with development data, which has been lacking so far [3].…”

“…For this purpose, the development of a holistic digital representation (Figure 2 "to-be") as foundation and therefore part of future digital twins of a project-specific process plant is proposed, in which all relevant information is stored or referenced. A method is developed within the DIAA-H2 project (Saske et al 2022) that creates a central access point for all plant data for various parties involved, enables an interface between plant development and asbuilt documentation and allows in-depth data analysis for optimization of product and production. In context of this project, the research objective is to solve this insufficient information backflow through a method of predefined information retrieval during the so-called instantiation process (see section 4).…”

“…The methodology aims to be integrated into an overall plant lifecycle management approach, where all information of different origin, stored in various native data management systems are linked through a middleware in a holistic digital representation. The concept has been introduced by Saske et al (2022) and was further detailed out by Schwoch et al (2023). This paper seeks to answer the research question: How can a framework for automating the definition of information retrieval in plant engineering improve efficiency and accuracy in managing plant complexity?…”
