Abstract: Background. The critical care resuscitation unit (CCRU) facilitates interhospital transfer (IHT) of critically ill patients for immediate interventions. Due to these patients’ acuity, it is uncommon for patients to be directly discharged home from this unit, but it does happen on occasion.
