Direct Isolation and Characterization of Human Nephron Progenitors

Abstract: Mature nephrons originate from a small population of uninduced nephrogenic progenitor cells (NPs) within the cap mesenchyme. These cells are characterized by the coexpression of SIX2 and CITED1.
