Abstract:Lattice strain is generated in crystal structures as a result of atomic size differences between host atom and solute elements during substitutional alloying. Extensive work has been performed to study lattice parameter variation with alloying elements, primarily using diffraction methods. The global information provided by reciprocal space analysis, however, limits access to local structural details. In contrast, atomic resolution STEM enables direct imaging of the crystal structure, but drift distortion curr… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
