“…A study found that freshness was the most important attribute for farmed seabream consumption in Portugal [ 62 ], while another study in Europe found that one of the most important reasons for buying local and European products was its greater freshness [ 71 ]. This preference for fresh products implies that efforts should be made to optimize the supply chain for fisheries and aquaculture to ensure that more fresh products are marketed [ 72 ]. However, not knowing how to evaluate if the fish is fresh or not can be a barrier to its consumption [ 56 ], which is why marketing campaigns should provide a guide for consumers in the assessment of freshness of products.…”

“…In recent years, the Discrete Choice Experiment (DCE) methodology became among the stated preference methods (Brown, 2003), one of the most widely used for the analysis of consumers' preferences of food products (Van Loo et al, 2011;Cantillo et al, 2020;Louviere et al, 2000;Ortega et al, 2011;Gracia, 2014;Marian et al, 2014).…”

“…The theory of binary logit model is fully explained in several texts (Collett, 2003;Allison, 2012;Stokes et al, 2012;Agresti, 2013;Hosmer and Lemeshowm, 2013). There are many example about use of logit model in literature (Jaffry et al, 2004;Br ecard et al, 2012b;Stefani et al, 2012;Mauracher et al, 2013;Carlucci et al, 2015;Cantillo et al, 2020), a multivariate binary logit was chosen because it was easily interpretable and it fitted well to our data. The independent variables that were considered in both model were socio-demographic variables and consumer opinion variables associated with some attributes in relation to fresh caught and farmed fish.…”
