In this paper, an online compensation predictive control method based on hybrid torque sharing function (HTSF) is proposed to reduce current spikes in the torque sharing control of switched reluctance motor (SRM). First, predictive control is introduced to the torque sharing function (TSF) and a new cost function is designed with Laplace multiplier method by predicting the current and torque of the next cycle of SRM. Then the optimal current control amount is carried out. Second, the ratio of the torque error to the desired torque and its derivative are compensated online to the current phase at the beginning of the commutation overlap period to accurately track the torque, and the torque distribution is optimized by a HTSF at the end of the phase change to further reduce the current spikes and suppress the torque ripple. Finally, the experiment on 8/6 four‐phase SRM is achieved to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed control strategy, and the results show that the current spikes and the torque ripple are reduced by 25% and 14.5% respectively. Therefore, compared with traditional TSF control, this method can effectively reduce the SRM torque ripple and excessive current spikes. © 2023 Institute of Electrical Engineer of Japan and Wiley Periodicals LLC.

This paper features a performance comparative study between analytical torquesharing functions. The optimal conditions of θ on and θ ov were obtained by particle swarm algorithm as method to drive optimization of three-phase switching reluctance motor. The aim is to assess the level of core losses and torque ripple in each TSF, as well as current controller performance in different speed conditions. In order to work out simulation process in less time, the non-linear model developed in Typhoon/Python environment was used to have real-time results. Resumo: Este trabalho apresenta um estudo comparativo de desempenho entre as funções de divisão de torque analíticas. As condições ótimas de θ on e θ ov são obtidas via algoritmo de enxame de partículas -método utilizado para a otimização do acionamento de um motor de relutância chaveada trifásico. O foco está em avaliar o nível de perdas no cobre e de oscilação de torque em cada metodologia, bem como o desempenho do controlador de corrente em níveis diferentes de velocidade. Com o intuito de realizar o processo de simulações em menor tempo, o modelo não linear desenvolvido nos softwares Typhoon HIL/Python foi utilizado para obtenção dos resultados em tempo real.

With the ever growing environmental concerns, renewable energy sources emerge as a promise of clean and abundant energy, enabling long-term sustainable development. In this context, wind power gained significant interest due to its relative low cost and availability. Switched reluctance generators (SRGs) are suitable candidates for wind energy conversion systems, as they present a simple structure, robustness, a wide range of speed and are capable of operating in harsh environments. The machine, however, poses challenges such as high torque ripple, acoustic noise production and highly nonlinear behavior. Nonetheless, with the use of adequate control strategies, high dynamic performance SRG-based wind energy conversion systems can be achieved. As a result, this article presents a state of the art review of SRGs in wind power applications. First, the fundamentals of the SRG are presented. Next, two categories of firing angle control are reviewed: optimization and closed-loop control. Then, voltage and power control strategies are discussed, being divided in model-independent and model-based approaches. After that, a review on grid-tied SRGbased wind energy conversion systems is carried out. The most common filter topologies as well as the employed control strategies are detailed. Lastly, an outline of the discussed topics is presented and future trends as well as suggestions for future investigation are listed.
