“…The increased periductal lymphatic and blood vessel density that we observed around intraductal breast carcinoma with comedonecrosis and high nuclear grade, that are almost as high as their counterparts in invasive breast carcinoma cases, raises the question of whether these are independent markers of worse prognosis. We can speculate that these vascular changes are an indication of regression of previous invasion as is well recognized in cutaneous malignant melanoma and also recently reported in nonmelanoma skin cancers (44)(45)(46)(47)(48) or perhaps indicates that ''IDC with comedonecrosis'' is actually invasive ductal carcinoma producing duct-like neoplastic structures as the lymphatic and blood vascular densities along with the surrounding periductal desmoplastic reaction are similar to that seen in IC of the breast.…”

“…Many biochemical systems in the cells prevent the chain reactions of free radicals in the body (Kruidenier et al, 2002). Antioxidants help stymie many oxidation reactions and inhibit or delay damage to cells and tissues (Michael et al, 2007). An imbalance between antioxidants and oxidative stress can damage sensitive biological tissues (Deby et al, 1986).…”

“…In a case study, metastatic melanoma regressed in a patient after she had changed to a diet that was rich in anti-oxidants (β-carotene included). This may have been a case of spontaneous regression, but the possibility also existed that it had been as a result of her change in diet [113]. In another case, oral supplementation of a combination of β-carotene with other anti-oxidants ( i.e.…”
