Dispersed Molecular Aggregates. 3. Synthesis and Characterization of Colloidal Lead Chromate in Water/Sodium Bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate/n-Heptane Water-in-Oil Microemulsion Medium

Abstract: A nanocolloidal dispersion of lead chromate (PbCrO4) has been prepared in H2O/sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate (AOT)/n-heptane water-in-oil (w/o) microemulsion medium. The formation of the PbCrO4 in the water pool of the microemulsion has been established by Fourier transform infrared measurements. The absorbance and fluorescence behaviors of the colloidal PbCrO4 have been investigated with varying water pool size, i.e., varying [water]/[AOT] mole ratio, ω. The dimension of the lead chromate encapsulated… Show more

“…Samples were filtered three times using a Milipore TM hydrophobic membrane filter of 0.25 lm pore size. In actual DLS measurements, the diffusion coefficient (D) of a solution is measured which is related to the diameter of a droplet (d) according to the Stokes-Einstein equation [28,[42][43][44][45][46]:…”

“…Among all these oxides ternary metal chromate oxides have vast utility due to their applications as photosensitizers, photoconductive dielectric materials, humidity sensing resistors, yellow pigments, and effective solid lubricants [6][7][8][9]. Zinc silicate (Zn 2 SiO 4 ), or ␣-willemite, on the other hand is a promising multifunctional material which has a wide range of applications such as phosphor host materials, pigment in paints, electrical insulators, and rubber mixtures [10][11][12].…”
