Besides classic applications, dermoscopy has gained significant appreciation also for non‐tumoral dermatoses (general dermatology). In this field, skin parasitoses (infestations), bites and stings have been reported among the conditions that may benefit most from dermoscopic examination. However, published data on this topic are sparse and often lack a standardized analytical approach. In this systematic review of the literature, we sought to summarize available data on dermoscopy of cutaneous parasitoses, bites and stings, analysing dermoscopic features and used setting (polarization or not/magnification), pathological correlation and level of evidence of published studies as well as trying to align dermoscopic terminology of reported findings following a standardized methodology. A total of 150 publications addressing 29 different dermatoses and reporting 96 different dermoscopic findings were included in the analysis. Most of them displayed a level of evidence of V (113 single case reports and 36 case series), with only one study featuring a level of evidence of IV (case–control study). Additionally, our analysis also displayed poor uniformity in the terminology used in published articles (even for the same dermatosis). Therefore, albeit promising, dermoscopy of cutaneous parasitoses, bites and stings needs future systematized studies for a better characterization.

Objectives. To present the state-of-the-knowledge on the epidemiology of tungiasis in the Region of the Americas. Methods. A search of publications on the epidemiology of tungiasis in the Americas was performed in PubMed and LILACS databases from January 2007 to June 2021. In addition, a manual literature search on articles on the epidemiology of tungiasis was performed. Results. A total of 83 articles were analyzed which contained relevant information on tungiasis cases and their geographical distribution, prevalence and risk factors, life cycle, sites where transmission takes place, and zoonotic aspects. The on-host and off-host life cycles have been researched in detail. In certain contexts, the whole life cycle is completed indoors enabling transmission around the whole year. Cases were reported from 10 countries; 71% of them were from Brazil. In the general population, the prevalence varied between 1.0% and 82.6% according to the settings. Age-specific prevalence indicated that children and the elderly bear the highest disease burden. Risk factor studies indicate that tungiasis is associated with severe poverty. Conclusions. In the Americas, there are important gaps in information and knowledge of tungiasis. Understanding the burden, epidemiology, distribution, magnitude, related risk factors, and reservoirs, among others, is needed to develop and implement integrated control measures tailored to the context and patterns of transmission in the affected communities.

Hyperostosis occuring in the midline of the hard palate (Fig. 1), called torus palatinus or hyperostosis located on the lingual aspect of the mandible, termed torus mandibularis [1]. TRAMP STAMP SIGN Tattoos on women that are not religious or ceremonially required for their culture. Often on the lower back area; they were originally used to signify a life of prostitution. This practice continues today but sometimes these tattoos are now seen in the non-prostitute population, as sign of admiration for the romanticized prostitution lifestyle which is linked to drug abuse, physical violence, and sexually transmitted diseases. The origin of the term dates from the 17 th century Yakuza practice of tattooing prostitutes on the back. Prostitutes in the Edo period, called 'Yujo' tattooed themselves with the name of their regular customer as a sign of their loyalty. This tattoo is referred to as 'Irezumiko', which starts with the customer's name and ends with the kanji character 命 (inochi), which means life, so this tattoo means "I give my life to 'name'."
