Abstract:Extravasation injuries are frequent complications, especially in extremely preterm neonates treated in neonate intensive care units (NICU). Depending on the type of the extravasated substance, the duration, and the amount of the leak, extravasation may result in necrosis of the soft tissues adjacent to the leak, compartment syndrome, and limb amputation.
