Abstract:Abstract. Using spaceborne lidar and radar observations, this study identifies deep convection systems (DCSs), including deep convection cores (DCCs) and anvils, over the Tibetan Plateau (TP) and tropical Indian Ocean (TO) and finds that DCSs over the TP are less frequent, exhibiting narrower and thinner DCCs and anvils compared to those over the TO. The thinner DCCs over the TP exert weaker radiative cooling effects at the top of atmosphere (TOA) compared to the TO. But, the shortwave TOA cloud radiative effe… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
