Distribution of HLA Tissue Groups in Patients with Gastric Cancer

Abstract: It is probable that HLA-Cw5 is a risk factor for gastric cancer whereas HLA-DRB1*15 plays a protective role for this disease. The results show that different loci on HLA may control resistance to or tendency for any disease in different societies; each society should determine its own tissue group.

“…HLA-DR, as a T lymphocyte immune-regulatory molecule has been shown to vary during the cancer progression [28]. Saraiva et al, demonstrated that HLA-DR + expression signi cantly declined in cancer subjects and is strongly connected with prognosis [29][30], as reported in 67% of gastric cancer cases and in 80% of poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma [31]. Intriguingly, our study showed that HLA-DR co-expression in CD3, CD4 and CD8 subsets was a signi cant trend towards suppression of drug stimuli.…”

“…26,30 In the included studies, a total of 1656 patients and 16,787 healthy controls were examined. A wide range of heterogeneous study populations were covered with different ethnic groups from four World Health Organization (WHO) regions including Western Pacific Region (WPR) (Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, China), [29][30][31][32][33][34][35][36] European Region (EUR) (Turkey, Spain, Germany, and Sweden), 18,26,27,[37][38][39] Region of the Americas (AMR) (Mexico and Chile), 19,28,40,41 and Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) (Iran). 25 The highest number of articles belonged to the Japanese population, with a total of four, [29][30][31][32] followed by Mexico with three.…”

“…Fifteen studies analyzed above-mentioned disease among H. pylori infected patients, whereas four studies did not mention H. pylori infection. 25,27,36,38 However, their studied diseases (GAC & GC) are directly associated with H. pylori infection. 3,42 All case and control populations were above 18-yearold and inclusive of both males and females.…”
