Diverless Solutions in a Diver Assisted Manifold for Readjustment of the Marlim Gas Mesh in Campos Basin

Abstract

As in the world, the increase in the number of platform decommissioning projects in Brazil is directly influenced by the advanced age of some of the facilities, especially in the Campos Basin. Although the decommissioning phase is part of the life cycle of an oil development project and several similar projects have already been carried out in the Gulf of Mexico and the North Sea, the challenges in this sector are still enormous, especially in reducing operational risks, environmental impacts and financial costs. Over the last few years, the company has sought to reduce divers' exposure to risk, as well as reduce this dependence on human diving in its underwater activities and reducing critical resources that impact underwater connections. This article investigates the diverless trend in the global oil industry, demonstrating relevant aspects of this transition that involves replacing human diving in subsea operations with specific tools and ROV. In this sense, the operational and security aspects related to the theme will be explored. Using the descriptive methodology and considering the Marlim Gas Mesh Readjustment Project. The objective of this work is to present the diverless solution that is being implemented for readjustment of the Marlim Gas Mesh in Campos Basin in a PLEM called MIS-MRL-1. As brief history is that the Manifold that was installed in a Water Depth of about 200m and was initially designed to be operated by saturated divers.
