“…Nas duas últimas décadas do mesmo século, a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) trouxe um avanço significativo para a genética forense. Um procedimento que permitiu a amplificação de regiões específicas do DNA, mesmo que o material genético encontre-se em quantidades muito pequenas e até mesmo degradado, o que acabou por resolver dois dos problemas encontrados nas análises de VNTRs: a necessidade de uma grande quantidade de DNA e da integridade desse material genético, devido ao tamanho de seus amplicons (Goodwin, 2015).
