Do female Sharp-tailed Grouse, Tympanuchus phasianellus, copulate only once during a breeding season?
Leonard J. S. Tsuji
Abstract:Fluid mixtures taken from the reproductive tracts of eight female Sharp-tailed Grouse (Tympanuchus phasianellus), as they entered the lek, did not contain sperm or sperm fragments. Although not definitive, this study adds further support to the assumption that female Sharp-tailed Grouse typically copulate only once during a breeding season.
