Abstract: Sympatric black crappie (Pomoxis nigromaculatus Lesueur in Cuvier and Valenciennes, 1829) and white crappie (P. annularis Rafinesque, 1818) often differ in ecological performance, such that white crappie outnumber black crappie in turbid waterbodies and black crappie predominate in clear waters with abundant cover.
