Do postgraduate research degrees contribute to positive outcomes for surgical doctors? An evaluation of relevant literature

Abstract: Doctorates as part of surgical training are gaining popularity and diversity within the global market. The costs of these degrees need weighed against anticipated benefits for the individual and healthcare systems. This review considers the drivers, impact and future of higher research degrees in surgery.
