The article analyzes the maturity level of information modeling technology based on the Bew-Richards diagram, as well as using the Gartner curve. The analysis of current publications on the keywords BIM and Building information modeling has been carried out. It has been determined that Revit software is currently the most widely used for working with construction objects, but the proposed Bentley products provide more granularity in the information model characteristics. At the same time, none of the presented products can cover the entire life cycle of a construction project without significant modifications. The authors propose to expand the set of building structures elementsэ properties, dividing them into more detailed subgroups, to use this information at further stages of the release of design documentation. Thus, the information in the model should be sufficient to release all subsequent documentation. In this case, in addition of the need to separate them in detail, information about the position of the object in world space, and not in model space, is added to the properties. As a result, it is possible to build an information system containing information sufficient for the release of all project documentation according to the proposed approach, as well as supporting the project at the operational stage. In this case, the documentation issuance is proposed to be done by writing scripts and using databases.

Infrastructure Elements for Smart Campuses: A Bibliometric Analysis

Sustainable development can be attained at a microlevel and having smart campuses around the world presents an opportunity to achieve city-wide smartness. In the process of attaining smartness on campuses, the elements requiring attention must be investigated. There are many publications on smart campuses, and this investigation used the bibliometric analysis method to identify such publications produced over the last decade. A matrix of 578 nodes and 3217 edges was developed from 285 publications on smart campus construction and procurement. Fifteen cluster themes were produced from the bibliometric analysis. The findings revealed that China contributed 48.4% of all published articles on the smart campus. The findings presented a framework from the cluster themes under the four broad infrastructure areas of building construction or repurposing, technology and IT network, continuous improvement, and smart learning and teaching management. The implications of the findings identified that IT project management, traditional procurement strategy, and standard forms of contracts such as the New Engineering Contract (NEC) and the Joint Contract Tribunal (JCT) are applicable in the procurement of smart cities.

Construction industry is highly exposed to accidents than other industries. Due to the multi-disciplinary nature of the construction industry, more than one task is required to be performed at the same time. If safety planning is improper, it may lead to serious accidents on-site, directly affecting overall productivity. Recent technologies such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) have the potential to manage safety on the construction site. This study deals with the status check of the awareness of BIM in Indian construction along with benefits, barriers faced in Indian construction. This study also presents the benefits that BIM implementation can bring for safety management. In this study, a questionnaire was designed to ascertain the level of awareness of BIM in the Indian construction industry. The questionnaire was distributed to construction professionals from all over India. A total of 171 valid responses were received from all the corners of India. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences analysis (SPSS) has been used for data analysis. The survey concludes that the Indian construction sector needs to work on the three main aspects that include awareness of BIM and its benefits for organizations, accumulation of BIM in the tertiary education system, and delivering corporate training in construction organizations for a successful realization of benefits by the implementation of BIM.
