Donor atom selective coordination of Fe3+and Cr3+trigger fluorophore specific emission in a rhodamine–naphthalimide dyad

Abstract: A rhodamine–naphthalimde dyad capable of discerning Fe3+and Cr3+ions in aqueous samples is synthesized and its application in live cell imaging is demonstrated.
