Doping evolution of the electronic structure in the single-layer cuprateBi2Sr2xLaxCu

Abstract: We have performed angle-resolved photoemission and core-level x-ray photoemission studies of the single-layer cuprate Bi2Sr2−xLaxCuO 6+δ (Bi2201) and revealed the doping evolution of the electronic structure from the lightly-doped to optimally-doped regions. We have observed the formation of the dispersive quasi-particle band, evolution of the Fermi "arc" into the Fermi surface and the shift of the chemical potential with hole doping as in other cuprates. The doping evolution in Bi2201 is similar to that in Ca… Show more

“…via comparisons to other single-layer cuprates. A great body of ARPES work exists for LSCO and Bi2201, the "low-T c " singlelayer cuprates [45,57,[73][74][75]. In contrast, there have been fewer ARPES studies on Tl 2 Ba 2 CuO 6+δ (Tl2201) [37,76,77] and none on Hg1201 prior to the present work.…”

“…It should also be noted that the agreement between Fermi surface area and nominal doping reported in the literature is mixed. In La 2−x Sr x CuO 4 (LSCO), the measured Fermi-surface area follows Luttinger's theorem, while in Ca 2−x Na x CuO 2 Cl 2 (Na-CCOC) and Bi 2 Sr 2 CuO 6+δ (Bi2201), it increases more rapidly with nominal doping [45,46]. A future ARPES study of the Fermi surface doping dependence in Hg1201 can be expected to clarify the interpretation of the Fermi surface area observed in this experiment.…”

“…In contrast, in Bi2201 and Bi2212, STM studies are sensitive to charge modulations, and we find that the associated q-vector is consistent with an important role of ANN nesting in CO. Figure 4 plots the calculated doping dependence of the ANN charge nesting vectors for the Bi cuprates, [25,62] displaying a strong material dependence. Shown also are the experimental superlattice periodicities for CO found in the tunneling spectra in .…”

“…Nesting vectors for ANN (q, q) CO for Bi2201 (green solid line), Bi2212 with (violet dotted-dashed) or without (violet dotted) bilayer splitting, compared to experimental q (0, ) CO vectors for Bi2201 (green circles [63] or triangles [65]), Bi2212 (violet circles [64]), YBCO (blue squares [3][4][5]7]), and Hg1201 (silver diamond) [66]. Band parameters for the theoretical calculations are from [62] and [25]. Results for Hg1201 and YBCO are after [66].…”
