Abstract:Clozapine's elimination from the body is extensively dependent on liver metabolism, with a relatively short elimination half‐life. As a result, the prescribing of clozapine in a divided‐dosing regimen has been recommended in some countries. However, there is little evidence to show that divided dosing is more efficacious than a once‐daily dosing regimen. Several studies indicate that the majority of clozapine‐treated patients in North America took the atypical antipsychotic once daily at bedtime.
