“…This flap gradually overtook the radial forearm flap to become the workhorse flap (Demirkan et al, ; Kimata et al, ; Koshima et al, ; Shieh et al, ; Wei et al, ), particularly in the eastern world where obesity was less prevalent. The peroneal flap, first described by Yoshimura, Imura, Shimamura, Yamauchi, & Nomura, (), was reported as a viable and versatile option for a variety of soft tissue defects (Huang, Liu, Chen, & Yang, ; Ikeda, Yokoyama, Okada, Tomita, & Nagayama, ; Lin, Liu, Chen, & Yang, ; Liu and Yang, ; Loeffelbein, Holzle, & Wolff, ; Wolff & Stellmach, ; Wolff, ; Wolff, Holzle, & Nolte, ; Wolff, Kesting, Thurmuller, Bockmann, & Holzle, ; Yang, Leung, & Chen, ). Despite its thinness, minor donor site morbidity, and easy two‐team approach, there had been a pushback on adopting this flap as one of the workhorse flaps, most likely because of its steeper learning curve.…”

“…The fibular osteomyocutaneous chimeric flap with a double skin paddle accompanied by lower leg muscle has been introduced for through-and-through cheek and oral defect reconstruction. 16,[26][27][28] Adding this novel design and refining the flap inset, as we propose here, can produce an aesthetically pleasing lip and oral commissure with sufficient competence.…”

“…Although an anterolateral thigh chimeric flap can achieve good functional and esthetic outcomes, the major drawback is that no vascularized bone can be transferred at the same time. The fibular osteomyocutaneous chimeric flap with a double skin paddle accompanied by lower leg muscle has been introduced for through‐and‐through cheek and oral defect reconstruction . Adding this novel design and refining the flap inset, as we propose here, can produce an aesthetically pleasing lip and oral commissure with sufficient competence.…”

“…The one free flap plus one pedicle flap may also add the operation time and double donor-site morbidity. 15 The folded flap, especially the folded free radial forearm (FRF) flap, is the most frequently used flap for reconstruction of the throughand-through cheek defects. But the FRF flap has some obvious disadvantages 16,17 : it requires the sacrifice of major artery of forearmVthe radial artery.…”

“…13,14 Mean platelet volume level has been reported to be higher in patients with pulmonary hypertension. 15 Platelets play a central role in the formation of atherosclerotic plaques and therefore in the pathogenesis of atherothrombosis. Elevated MPV levels, as an indicator of larger, more reactive platelets resulting from increased platelet turnover, may therefore represent a risk factor for overall vascular mortality, including cardiovascular diseases.…”
