“…Even though treatment for WSSV infection is not well established, the genome architecture is well known. Five complete genome sequences for WSSV collected from different parts of the world are presently available in public domain, which include WSSV from Taiwan with 307,287 nucleotides (WSSV‐TW AF440570) (Tsai et al., ), from China with 305,107 nucleotides (WSSV‐CN AF332093) (Yang et al., ), from Thailand with 292,967 nucleotides (WSSV‐TH AF369029) (Van Hulten et al., ), from Korea with 295,884 nucleotides (WSSV‐KR JX515788) (Chai, Yoon, Lee, Kim, & Choi, ) and from Mexico with 293,183 nucleotides (WSSV‐MX08 KU 216744) (Rodriguez‐Anaya et al., ).They are highly conserved with a sequence similarity of 97%–99% among all five genomes. Over the years, several deletion sites have been identified in different isolates (Dieu et al., ; Marks, van Duijse, Zuidema, van Hulten, & Vlak, ; Muller, Andrade, Tang‐Nelson, Marques, & Lightner, ; Oakey & Smith, ; Pradeep, Shekar, Karunasagar, & Karunasagar, ; Rodriguez‐Anaya et al., ).…”
