“…Regarding lightning damages, literature exists about torn clothes and shoes with or without their scorched margins or burns, arcing in metal articles [5], magnetisation of articles of steel, burn injury and tattooing with the metal, in that part of the skin in contact with metal [6], imprint burn mark found below the designed metallic object [7], linear burns in the areas of the greatest sweat concentrations such as axillary folds, groin [4] and also in other body creases [8], superficial-to-deep burns to head, neck and chest tracking downwards to lower extremities, filigree marking, feathering burns, fernlike markings, Lichtenberg's flowers or keraunographic skin markings (Keraunos, a Latin word, meaning thunderbolt) on trunk and arms, which histologically show intact epidermis and dermis and extravasated red blood cells focally in the subcutaneous fat [9] and other unusual lesions such as symmetrical macular skin markings beneath female breast [10], lustrous brown discolouration and exfoliation of skin [11], burnt cranial bone if full thickness of scalp is burnt [12], entry and exit wounds [13] and multiple, small, circular, full-thickness burns on soles of the feet and tips of toes, which is considered to be a pathognomonic sign of lightning injury called as 'tiptoe sign' [14]. Bruising [15], myocardial infarction and areas of haemorrhages, multiple petechial haemorrhages; oedema in heart [16] as well as ecchymotic areas and contusion to the lungs [17] are also discussed in the literature.…”

“…[10,18] In addition, lightning -related entry and exit lesions can also be seen on the skin. [24] Pfortmueller et al reported three of nine cases were injured as a result of lightning strike had skin findings, one of those three cases had mild skin lesions, while the other two had entry and exit lesions together with second and third degree burn areas. [13] In the study involving 47 cases died by lightning strike, burns on the skin in 80.8% of the cases and singed hair in 42.5% of the cases were detected.…”
