Drivers of structural convergence: Accounting for model uncertainty and reverse causality

Abstract: The objective of the article is the examination of factors that affect structural convergence and assessing their robustness. Research Design & Methods: Determinants of structural similarity are examined using the Bayesian model averaging with dilution prior to establishing robust drivers in the long run. The short-run analysis is conducted using Bayesian model averaging within a dynamic panel framework with weakly exogenous regressors. Findings: The application of Bayesian model averaging allowed for the iden… Show more

“…The basis of the approach was the method of structural convergence (Beck, 2021;Scharpf, 2020;Aiginger, 2015) to show interconnections between the merging of innovative technologies, the convergence of different branches and sectors, as well as the convergence of countries with a prevalence of extractive and manufacturing economy on macroeconomic indicators. “…Also, corruption has been conceived as the misuse of a position in the public administration or its connections for having own benefits or for others [14]. Beck [15] outlined that lower levels of corruption can be observed in countries with similar economic structures. Corruption represents a very complex phenomenon because of its different dimensions, that is, economic, social, political, and cultural Corruption, Bribery, and Money Laundering -Global Issues dimensions [16,17].…”
