Drought Tolerance Conferred in Soybean (Glycine max. L) by GmMYB84, a Novel R2R3-MYB Transcription Factor

Abstract: MYB-type transcription factors (MYB TFs) play diverse roles in plant development and stress responses. However, the mechanisms underlying the actions of MYB TFs during stress response remain unclear. In this study we identified a R2R3-MYB TF in soybean (Glycine max), denoted GmMYB84, which contributes to drought resistance. Expression of GmMYB84 was induced by drought, salt stress, H2O2 and ABA. Compared with the wild type (WT), GmMYB84-overexpressing soybean mutants (OE lines) exhibited enhanced drought resis… Show more

“…RnA isolation and cDnA synthesis. For RNA-Sequencing (RNA-Seq) and qRT-PCR analysis, total RNA was extracted from 250 mg frozen root tissue using a phenol-chloroform extraction method 77 . RNA concentration was quantified photometrically using a NanoDrop (ND-1000, Thermo Scientific, Wilmington, DE, USA) and RNA integrity was tested on 1.2% agarose gel.…”

“…Suc non-fermenting-1-related protein kinase2 is implicated in stress signaling transduction via abscisic acid-dependent and -independent pathways (Yoshida et al, 2002;Zhang et al, 2011), TaBZR2 could modulate the expression of numerous stress-responsive genes under drought conditions, contributing to the drought tolerance of the transgenic wheat. ), which, if not controlled, can eventually lead to oxidative damage (Dat et al, 2000;Wang et al, 2017). TaBZR2 has a role in activating antioxidant enzyme gene expression.…”

“…H 2 O 2 -correlated hub genes differentially regulated in response to drought stress Transcription factors are key players in the regulatory networks for plant responding to unfavorable stresses. The MYB family is one of the largest transcription factor families in plants with a conserved MYB binding domain and it has been showed to be essential for plants in response to abiotic stresses (Li et al 2015), as well as, to be induced by H 2 O 2 in soybean (Wang et al 2017). In this study, ve differentially expressed genes that are annotated as transcription factors, including 3 MYB, 1 NAD, and 1 SHR families, were highly clustered in Grey60, a module that was statistically correlated with the accumulation of H 2 O 2 during drought stress.…”
