Drug Use during Incarceration: A Comprehensive Quality and Prevalence Study in Three Danish Prisons

Abstract

Class 1: Particularly heightened regime with a high level of physical/technical security and a high staff presence. Only inmates who pose a special security risk, for example, due to a high risk of escape or a very high readiness for conflict, are placed in a department in security class 1. The number of inmates in this category is therefore very limited.Security Class 2: Special units targeted at larger institutions that are secured against illegal communication through increased use of technical equipment, and where, due to the size of the institution, there is a larger staff contingency. SecurityClass 3: Ordinary community and special departments in closed prisons and detention centers. The size of the institutions, physical and technical security, and staff resources vary within the category. Security Class 4: Ordinary open prison departments and semi-open departments.
