Abstract: In this study, a smoke detector based on plasmon-polariton photodetector (PPPD) is proposed to address the issue of false triggering in optical smoke detectors under conditions of high room dustiness. The proposed detector uses a PPPD based on a p-n junction in a silicon wafer, on which a metal grating is fabricated by interference photo-lithography technology for surface plasmon-polariton resonance excitation.
