Abstract:Morphing, adaptable or smart structures are being used in mechanical and aerospace applications in recent years. These structures often have the property of time-varying stiffness or inertial properties, which can cause parametric instability issues that are not well understood. This paper examines the dynamic stability and response of a morphing aircraft wing with periodically time-varying structural stiffness. The wing is modeled as a beam with coupled bending-torsion motion, and parametrically excited stiff… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
